Database: Inference

Terminology 52: The act or process of knowing a claim to be the case is called an inference. We express the inference that a statement \phi holds by \vdash \phi or, as we shall typically do in practice, by stating \phi assertively. The context in which we are working should be born in mind when making such inferences.
